On Friday 6th March, the High Commissioner of Papua New Guinea, His Excellency Mr. Frank Lipani, was the guest speaker at the WDP service hosted by Milton Ulladulla Branch of CWLA. The service held in the Catholic Church Ulladulla was attended by over 120 people. This was Mr Lipani’s first visit to the Shoalhaven.
Councillor Paul Green, Mayor of Shoalhaven and his wife Michelle also attended.

In his speech, Mr Lipani praised the role of women in PNG and their new committment to taking on government positions.
He presented CWLA members with two brightly-coloured traditional handwoven “bilums”- the bilum on the cross being the memorable symbol of this year’s WDP theme.pngbilumcross

The Call to Worship in the service was heralded with the haunting sound of a conch shell and the congregation, lead by soprano, Margaret Morgan, sang “How Great Thou Art” in Pidgin to their and the High Commissioner’s enjoyment.

Refreshments were served in the Church Hall afterwards where Mr Lipani and mr Green enjoyed meeting the local community.
